About the role

F3 Wireless is looking for a Product Development Architect to join our team. This role spends their time meeting with clients, working with the design team. When working on a new project, they analyze the environment the device will be used in, how users will interact with the device, what technologies would be most appropriate, and back-end server requirements and other details. They will determine what technology tools can help the team achieve their goals, including both physical parts and software resources.

This role will develop the design requirements for devices, and oversee development of test procedures to meet these requirements. They also run tests at all phases of project development and implementation to make sure the device can meet its operational design requirements.

Requirements

  • Creativity to imagine innovative, effective new solutions and designs.
  • Logic and reasoning are important when troubleshooting difficult issues.
  • Ability to develop solutions to problems, as well as manage multiple issues at the same time.
  • Understanding and appropriately responding to feedback
  • Both oral and written communication skills
  • Training new staff members and communicating about solutions to complex problems.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • 10+ years in small electronic device design and/or electronic control system design.
  • Experience in wireless communications: LoRa, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Cellular, Zigbee.
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • Experience in writing and managing design requirements
  • Experience in RF / Antenna design is a plus
  • Experience with ARM micro-controllers and battery powered devices is a plus
  • Experience with CANbus is a plus
  • Cloud experience is a plus

Up to 10% travel associated with this role

Relationships

No reports. Reports to PM, SME and CTO.

Location and hours

This is a remote eligible position. We have a lab at 211 Saint Anthony Parkway Suite 100 in North East Minneapolis. Our typical working hours are 10am to 6pm. This is mostly an in-person role but once you’re up to speed some portion of work may be done remotely.
