Sr RF Engineer - F3 Wireless | Custom Wireless Products

About the role

F3 Wireless is looking for a senior RF / Hardware Engineer to join our team. You’ll be tasked with the design and implementation of HW/RF/antenna solutions for embedded electronic devices. After you design the hardware architecture, radios and antennas, you’ll test it in an RF lab with spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and wireless communication testers and assist with regulatory approvals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Using Altium Designer for schematic design and reviews.
  • Write DVT test plans for new development projects
  • Write certification test plans for projects
  • Doing initial board bring-up and Design Verification Test
  • Define tasks for new projects and provide work estimates.
  • Radio, HW and antenna testing
  • Soldering and board rework
  • Antenna design and matching
  • FCC/RED/PTCRB/VZW/ATT/TMO approvals

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, or similar degree
  • Min of 5 years of work experience doing embedded hardware/RF/IoT development
  • Understand HW architecture concepts, how to collaborate with other developers on a project
  • Good documentation skills
  • Basic experience of lab equipment such as oscope, power meter, sig gen, spectrum analyzers and network analyzers.
  • Basis experience with a soldering iron
  • Basic proficiency of RF and antennas
  • General understanding of embedded systems, analog electronics and power supplies
  • EMI/EMC/FCC experience
  • Schematic capture experience.
  • The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, quick learner with an interest in wireless technologies.

Travel

There is no expected travel associated with this role.

Relationships

Reports Sr. System Engineer and Software Subject Matter Expert.

Location and hours

You’ll be working out of our lab at 211 Saint Anthony Parkway Suite 100 in North East Minneapolis. Our typical working hours are 10am to 6pm. This is mostly an in-person role but once you’re up to speed some portion of work may be done remotely.
