This customer wanted to add cellular communications to a medical device used at home for treating migraine headaches. This allows them to more successfully document usage for insurance payment for the product. We added a Sierra Wireless (now Semtech) HL7800 module with the ALT-1250 chipset as well as Taoglas antennas to the product while minimizing the impact to the rest of the system and limiting the need for FDA retesting and certification expenses.

This customer wanted a fully carrier certified mPCIe module with an M1 class cellular radio to allow adding high value, low cost connectivity to laptops, industrial PCs and edge computing devices. We created the entire product, production testers and managed all certifications. This product is based on the Semtech HL7800 module with the ALT-1250 chipset.

This customer already had a BlueTooth connected sensor monitoring large pumps, motors and similar industrial equipment. This monitoring allows predictive failure analysis for the machine to avoid expensive and dangerous catastrophic failures and related system downtime. They asked if we could do an extensive power analysis to understand if the HL7800 cellular module and ALT-1250 chipset could meet their product’s run-time requirements with the battery they had available in the existing product. We did that power analysis and as the HL7800 was able to meet that need, we helped the customer’s internal engineering team implement the hardware and firmware to develop the product.
