Test Hardware Engineer - F3 Wireless | Custom Wireless Products

About the role

F3 Wireless is looking for a Test Engineer to join our team. You’ll be tasked with the design and implementation of production test systems for embedded device manufacturing and functional End-Of-Line testing. In collaboration with our mechanical, software and firmware engineers, you’ll use test requirements documentation to create a test plan to detail exactly how a given test is accomplished, using what equipment assembled in what way.

You’ll be working with a test Subject Matter Expert who’ll help ensure your piece of the puzzle fits in with the others technically as well as a Project Manager who handles customer communication, planning and task prioritization.

This is a utility player role. While the tester development is the main responsibility we’ll likely pull you into a variety of customer projects depending on your skills and interests. The more flexible you are the more you’ll like this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and help refine test requirements from DUT design engineers.
  • Define DUT test plans from test requirements.
  • Create schematics for testers.
  • Work with technicians to assemble, test, debug & refine test systems.
  • Review and select solutions for test equipment and implementations.
  • Define tasks for new projects and provide work estimates.
  • Define BOMs and assist sourcing as needed for testers.
  • Write documentation for testers.

Requirements

  • General understanding of embedded systems, electronics
  • A.S. in Electrical Engineering, or similar degree or experience
  • Min of 3 years of work experience with production test systems
  • Understand HW architecture concepts, how to collaborate with other developers on a project
  • Good documentation skills
  • Extensive experience with electronics lab/test equipment
  • Good electrical assembly skills
  • The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, quick learner with an interest in wireless technologies.

Travel

There could be some amount of travel to debug/fix test systems at customer locations. This hasn’t happened yet but it’s possible. Typically there is no expected travel associated with this role.

Relationships

No reports. Reports to PM, SME and CTO.

Location and hours

You’ll be working out of our lab at 211 Saint Anthony Parkway Suite 100 in North East Minneapolis. Our typical working hours are 10am to 6pm. This is mostly an in-person role but once you’re up to speed some portion of work may be done remotely.
